Why travel to Chapada dos Veadeiros in September?
A trip to Chapada dos Veadeiros in any month of the year will always be unforgettable. But it’s good to know that the region basically has two distinct seasons: dry and rainy. The dry period begins in May and ends precisely in September, so September can be considered a month of transition between seasons.
Chapada dos Veadeiros is a special destination for those seeking intense contact with nature. For those with a more adventurous style, Chapada offers many trails, waterfalls and other more radical activities. But Chapada dos Veadeiros is also a great destination for those who just want to relax in front of an enchanting scenery and get away from the rush and stress of everyday life.
Chapada dos Veadeiros is a true paradise surrounded by waterfalls, canyons and breathtaking natural beauty.
Climate in Chapada dos Veadeiros in September
The month of September is ideal for those who enjoy the walks without worrying about getting rain, as the dry period runs from May to September. There is also no risk of waterspouts in the waterfalls.
On the other hand, the air gets drier and the heat more intense during the day. At night, the temperature drops and, as there are almost no clouds, the sky is full of stars.
As in all seasons, there are recommended tours for this time of year. Due to the drought, some wells end up drying up, taking some of the fun out of the tour. On the other hand, tours that would be unfeasible in the rain due to the high volume of water, are accessible during this period.

Where is Chapada dos Veadeiros?
Chapada dos Veadeiros is located in the northwest of the state of Goiás, but the nearest airport is Brasília, 230km away.
The Chapada dos Veadeiros region is immense and encompasses 8 municipalities in the interior of Goiás. But most of the attractions are located in three cities: Alto Paraíso de Goiás, Vila de São Jorge and Cavalcante.
These cities serve as a base for tourists who want to explore the region, with Alto Paraíso being the city with the best infrastructure to receive visitors.
The best way to get to Chapada dos Veadeiros from Brasília airport is to rent a car and take the road (BR-010). There is also the option of taking a bus to Alto Paraíso, but as there is no public transport there and the attractions are often far from each other, the car is the best option.
But rest assured because the road is well maintained and has little truck traffic. The journey takes an average of 4 hours.
What to do in Alto Paraiso de Goiás?
Alto Paraíso de Goiás is the city that most attracts tourists due to the wide range of inns, restaurants and attractions. Check out some waterfalls that are on the outskirts of Alto Paraíso:
– Almecegas I and II and São Bento Waterfall: usually, those who visit Almecegas I and II Waterfalls already take a “stretch” to São Bento. That’s because all three are located at Fazenda São Bento and can be easily visited in one day.
To get to these waterfalls, the best way is through Aldeia Multiétnica, which is close to our Glamping. After a period of restructuring, Aldeia Multiétnica reopened for experience tourism, with visits to the Almecegas I and Almecegas II waterfalls, an exclusive well on the Couros River and the entire cultural space. There are also 7 traditional indigenous houses built in the village, it is really worth visiting! In addition, you can have lunch in the Village, upon prior reservation.
– Vale da Lua: it is among the most famous and visited attractions in the region. Tourists are enchanted by the rock formations that look like the surface of the moon. In September (dry season) it becomes a delightful place to enjoy the pools and rapids that form at this time.
– Cachoeira dos Cristais: ideal for enjoying Chapada dos Veadeiros with children. The trail is very easy and has several wells and waterfalls for bathing. Don’t miss the exits on the right, each one offers a new surprise. The main attraction is the Véu de Noiva Waterfall with several falls into a shallow pool, ideal for those who cannot swim or for those who are afraid of deeper waterfalls and strong waterfalls.
– Poço Encantado Waterfall: It is a beautiful waterfall, with very easy access by a paved path. Recommended for those with limited mobility and for families with young children. The 38-meter fall over a stone wall impresses visitors. In addition, at the edge of the waterfall there is a small beach with sand that pleases the whole family. The place has excellent infrastructure with restaurants, snack bars and restrooms.
– Macaquinhos Waterfall: a little further away from Alto Paraíso (33 km) is ideal for those who enjoy more tranquility. The trail has a medium level of difficulty, which guarantees a smaller number of visitors. It is a beautiful walk, as it is a little publicized tour and has more than 20 waterfalls and trail wells bordering the Rio Macaquinhos! You can spend all day bathing in each of the points, a delight!
– Cachoeira do Cordovil and Poço das Esmeraldas: located at Fazenda Volta da Serra, 27km from Alto Paraíso. These two are the best known, but on the Fazenda trails there are also the Rodeador Waterfalls and the Meeting Waterfalls. The Esmeraldas well, depending on the season, has its water literally emerald green, the most beautiful thing! The trails are not very difficult, with the exception of the final stretch to Cachoeira do Cordovil, but it is still worth it because it is the most beautiful waterfall! Its fall has a height of 44 meters forming a huge well of greenish tones.
In addition to the waterfalls, it is really worth taking a walk around Centrinho de Alto Paraíso and walking along Av. Ary Valadao Filho. The gastronomic scene of Alto Paraíso has been developing more and more and there are very charming bistros that are a must stop!
A picturesque walk for the arrival or departure day, or that quieter day, is the Rural Producer’s Fair. There you can learn about local ingredients and typical fruits from the Cerrado.
