Rainy season: October to April
The rainy season runs from October to April. It starts raining little in December and in January the highest volume of water falls. Then it starts to reduce again, and by the end of April it rains much less. But remember that anything can happen, since we are talking about nature.
- Temperatures: generally hot from start to finish, with highs above 30°C.
- Advantage: large volume of water in the rivers, making the spectacle of waterfalls more beautiful, with less icy waters and more pleasant for bathing.
Dry season: May to September
The dry season, on the other hand, theoretically starts in May and lasts until September.
But be aware that in Chapada dos Veadeiros in May and June there may be some rain or two.
In July everything is still green and the chance of rain is almost zero. Then comes August, when it doesn’t rain and the air is dry, the grass turns into straw and the high risk of fire begins. In September, air humidity can be lower than that of the Sahara desert.
