One of the best attractions of Chapada dos Veadeiros, without a doubt, is the connection with nature and children are also delighted with this direct contact with the fauna and flora of the Cerrado.
There are easily accessible trails and quieter waterfalls that can be enjoyed by the whole family. Check it out below:
Best Waterfalls with Children
Cachoeira dos Cristais: the trail is very simple, with only 500 m away it is possible to have access to several waterfalls and wells and a privileged view of Serra da Baliza and Vale do Moinho. Véu da Noiva is the last drop on the trail which, despite being short, is not very easy to go down or up. If you don’t want to venture out, you can stop at Poço do Vovô, just 200 meters from the parking lot. The place also has a good structure with restrooms, restaurants, playground and bounce house. How to get there: leaving Alto Paraíso, take the GO-118 towards Cavalcante for 5km. The entrance is on the right, there is a sign on the site, just be careful not to go straight through.
Cachoeira Loquinhas: it is a complex of waterfalls (10 in total) with crystal clear waters and wooden decks for sunbathing, one more beautiful than the other! There are two trails, the main and the violet, which are made of wood and suspended, ensuring safety, comfort and mobility for walking with children. In addition, it is very close to Alto Paraíso, 5 km from the city center.
Enchanted Well: this one looks like it was made for children! The waterfall is 38 meters high and its well is 50 meters in diameter. The Cachoeira forms a small “little beach” with white sand, a delight to play and relax with the family. It is located on Fazenda Rio das Pedras, 52 km from Alto Paraíso de Goiás. To get there, take the GO-118 towards Cavalcante and turn right (there is a signpost). After driving approximately 2km of dirt road, but in good condition, you will arrive at the parking lot in front of the restaurant.
Almécegas II: located inside Fazenda São Bento, it is a good option to visit with children and even babies. The well is very shallow and you only need to walk 300m to get there. Inside the property there is also Almécegas I, but the trail to get there is very steep, and also the São Bento Waterfall, but the wells are very deep, not recommended for children.
Best tours with children
Vale da Lua: this is one of the main attractions of Chapada dos Veadeiros and its trail is short and easily accessible. Children love this tour because, as its name suggests, the surface of the site is reminiscent of lunar soil. In addition, there are delightful bathing pits.
Encontro das Águas: an incredible place in Chapada, where the São Miguel River meets the Tocantinzinho River, forming little beaches and several wells for bathing. Located about 20 km from Vila de São Jorge towards Colinas do Sul. Good place to have a picnic with the little ones.
Jardim de Maytrea: one of the main postcards of Chapada dos Veadeiros cannot be left out of your itinerary with children! It is located on the road that connects Alto Paraíso and Vila de São Jorge and, in addition to its exuberant landscape marked by flowers and buritis paths, there is also the mysticism of the place. Many believe that there is a magnetic force field and portal to another dimension, being considered a sacred place.
Thermal Waters: they are pools of warm water, being an ideal program for the whole family. There are three hot springs in the region: Termas do Éden, Morro Vermelho and Termas de Jequitibá, all located in the city of Colinas do Sul. The places have a restaurant and the trails to access the pools are short and flat.
Aldeia Multiétnica: a conservation area of the Cerrado, it is a space dedicated to the strengthening of indigenous and quilombola peoples in Brazil. It features exhibitions on the cultures of different indigenous peoples and specific experiences, visits to seven traditional indigenous houses and a traditional Kalunga house, in addition to lodging and a restaurant. Children have fun and learn a lot there. The Multiétnica Village also includes access to the Almecegas I and II Waterfalls and to an exclusive well on the Rio dos Couros.
